Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Louisville Metro Office of Resilience and Community Services' LIHEAP Program is a federally funded program that provides financial assistance to help low-income residents of Jefferson County pay utility bills.

The Subsidy Phase operates annually in November and December and the benefit that a household receives is based on several factors including its level of poverty and the type of fuel used for heating.  The Crisis Phase starts in early January and typically operates until the end of March, or until funds have been depleted.  This phase assists clients who have received a disconnection notice from their utility service provider, or who have received an eviction notice from their landlord if utilities are included in their rent.

Check back in September 2019 for a list of early registration opportunities for the Subsidy Phase for elderly or disabled individuals.

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is funded by federal grants and is a pass through block grant from the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
